Fictional worlds like to play by their own rules. This often manifests as movies and TV shows defying well established laws of life and death. When we see a demise on the screen and respond with disbelief, some of it stems from the lack of finality that surrounds fictional character deaths. Characters are revived in most abundance when their on-screen value is large. And besides commercial factors, deaths are also reversed in the virtual world because, well, why not? Movies and TV shows, after all, operate in an imaginative capacity, where anything that can be shown on screen is technically plausible. This video looks at 25 such character deaths that were quite definitive, but got scrapped to accommodate a new direction for the character: one full of life. Whether or not characters should be killed ultimately is the creator's discretion. But these movies and TV show teach us that the more cognizantly character deaths and resurrections are handled, the better it is for the narrative.
