I had decided the idea of doing both Plutonia and TNT for Doom's anniversary when I returned to Doom speedrun for No Rest for the Living this past February. I wasn't sure how long it would actually take me to succeed at this attempt, so there was a possibility that I would have to abandon one or the other. I estimated about a month for each, then I managed to make it through. I was surprised that another player had completed TNT on UV-Fast in July this year, but I had noticed it after finishing Plutonia on UV-Fast in November. I had wanted to wow everyone for first completing both episodes on UV-Fast of Final Doom, but this prospect unfortunately fails. I'm the second player to complete TNT on UV-Fast. Many my kudos to DarthPlagus03 for taking on a rather difficult challenge as a newcommer speedrunner.
TNT on UV-fast is different difficulty from Plutonia on that in many points. TNT does not have the same level of evil traps as Plutonia, but it does have more hitscanners, making it more important to manage your health. The maps also is much longer than Plutonia's, so it requires a longer period of concentration. In addition, the complexity of the map, combined with the fact that it is easy to make mistakes, makes TNT a very tricky game to play. The mental damage caused by a death on the later maps is much greater because of the longer time spent on one attempt of TNT. I could leave a soul sphere or a mega sphere until just before finishing a map, and then take them just before moving on to the next map for enough health with the start, but it would cause a big time loss, so I avoided this tactic as much as possible in Plutonia. TNT does a lot of that tactic. Maps 21, 22, and 27, where the maps are huge, complex, and full of enemies, were especially awful and required ample advance preparation.
