2DP Better than EX DP?!? TEKKEN 7 Akuma testing
Just experimenting with Akuma when I went down this rabbit hole. It seems pretty useful, but of course requires much more execution and testing than just doing an ex DP in these situations. But here are some notes:
-This isn't really a copy paste thing to apply in every situation like this, but is still quite useful when you know what the starting 2DP(f,d,df/2) can interrupt successfully. That being said, I've yet to learn the invincibility frames of this move.
-These are only 3 out of a bunch more combo paths I could see, But these are the most important in my opinion.
-The very first hit of 2DP (f,d,df+2) into FADC is +14, which is why this works.
-These combos are from easiest to hardest in my opinion with 1, 1DP(f,d,df+1) being the easiest continuation, d2 Hadoken(d,df,f+1or2) being a little less lenient combo path, and the b1 which I believe is a 1 frame link.
-2 of these combos do spend all of your meter and instead gives much more combo/ damage potential as well as the factor of getting your opponent to the wall.
-Using only one meter in this fashion is only really worth it when doing the B1 continuation. And if you don't wanna try that, EX DP(f,d,df+1+2) will be the better choice.
-These combos only represent the maximum potential of this punish, which may vary with stage, opponent body type etc.
-This can also be applied to Akuma's jab 10 frames punish, for maximum damage( I just realized when typing this)
Think thats all I got. Hope this helps anyone and inspires others to experiment with character who we still seem to keep learning new things about.
