The Druid is another one of those character classes in Dungeons and Dragons that has really grown and changed throughout the different editions of dungeons and dragons. In AD&D, D20 D&D, 4e DnD, and in 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons it has gone under different changes both mechanically and from the role-playing aspect. Roleplay elements used to be much more in grained in the class in previous iterations of the game. In campaign worlds of hte past a druid would have to do battle with their peers at a certain point in order to advance in levels. That ws right in the players handbook.
