30 FPS vs 60 FPS (using Paranautical Activity)
So, YouTube supports 60 FPS in resolutions of 720p and above now. Here you can test whether you see the difference.
My opinion on this: It literally took the fast paced footage of Paranautical Activity for me to see a difference. 60 FPS does look more fluid on very fast movement. However, for the most part the difference is minuscule, if not neglectable.
I will however upload in 60 FPS from now on. That is, on games that run with 60 FPS or higher, like Paranautical Activity. KSP will remain at 30, since the game hardly even runs at 30, let alone above that. Console footage will stay at 30 too, since I am not wiling to buy a new elgato for such a minimal change, and the old Elgato GameCaptureHD doesn't support 60 FPS. The upload of 60 FPS footage will start as of next week (from the 10th of November), since I already recorded everything for this week. The exception here will be Isaac Rebirth, of course, since that releases on Tuesday, and I can start recording it in 60 FPS right away.
I hope you enjoy your new "silky smoothness"
IMPORTANT NOTE: All statements are only applicable to 30 vs 60 FPS video footage, not to paying a game at those framerates. Having a higher framerate while playing is always preferable, because it gives you more input frames, resulting in smoother controls.
