3.0 Xbow vs Impossible Matchups #1: Hog Earthquake
191Live gameplay & analysis of 3.0 Xbow vs Hog Rider Earthquake with Firecracker. This is one of Xbow's worst matchups in the current meta, considering their fast cycle, the oppressiveness of Earthquake, and the potential of Firecracker chip damage. In this video, I commentate my thought process and decision making for different plays as the match progresses.
Hog EQ specific matchup tips:
- Anti-Earthquake Tesla placement
- Always push opposite lane to them (forcing out Earthquakes on your stronger health tower; avoiding accumulating damage on your weaker health tower)
- Try to avoid as much damage as possible and play passively in x1
- Protect your high Teslas (especially against their own Teslas)
- Pressure with an offensive Xbow after they go in with a push and use Earthquake offensively
- You might have to predict Firecrackers on your hanging Knights (which is also why you should try to avoid hanging them in the first place). Tracking the opponent's card cycle helps with this.
- Try to not get outcycled easily if you notice they are cycling aggressively. You might need to pull a Hog Rider with an Xbow as opposed to a Tesla if you get outcycled too quickly.
- Fireball cycling in some positions is the most optimal play to make.
- This matchup is almost unwinnable at the top level (80-20 for Hog at best).

In this clash royale video I played in the clash royale global tournament using the 3.0 Xbow cycle deck. This deck has the clash royale xbow and tesla siege defense as well as the clash royale cycle cards for quick defense and mechanical gameplay. This is currently a very strong but high skill-cap clash royale deck. It is extremely similar to the clash royale 2.9 Xbow cycle deck, but has the clash royale Knight in place of the clash royale Ice Golem, which changes some interactions with different decks. The Knight's trait of being able to attack makes him favorable against several matchups, as compared to the passive Ice Golem.
