333 FPS Is Cheating In Quake III Arena
6This is just a response to some of the speed records I've seen in Quake III Arena, and why I think the speed running community needs to reassess allowing exploits like com_maxfps 333. This is no different than using a wallhack or an aimbot in my opinion. If you're breaking the physics to the point that the maps are not fully playable to gain an advantage, you're not really speed running the game as it was intended. No other game where you could use an exploit like this to gain both speed and jump height would be taken seriously if the game itself could not be played properly on the same settings. And that's really the point. If it breaks the game, it's not legit.
