3DS Capture Device Test - Super Monkey Ball 3D
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION.
This is the second test for my 3DS capture device. As you can pretty plainly see, this take is a hell of a lot better than my first go-around. I used a lossless codec instead of the default one, and the quality increased dramatically. No jitteryness, no pixelation, nothing. Of course, the game doesn't look quite as nice on the PC as it does on the 3DS, but that's just part of the medium transition. I am happy with the video quality as it its right now.
One unfortunate downside to the capture device is file size; the files for a 3DS recording on a lossless codec are pretty large. 5 minutes of footage runs me about one gigabyte of space before I edit it together in another program. It's a lot of space, but it's similar to the space problems I have with Dazzle and Fraps, so thankfully this isn't completely new territory. I have an external hardrive that I'll have to pull out to make things work, but space *shouldn't* be too much of an issue.
Now that I have the video quality where I want it, I need to find a way to edit the footage so it looks nice on YouTube. Watching the two screens stacked on top of eachother is not an optimal way to watch an entire playthrough. I have absolutely no idea how to edit the footage this way, however. Are there any recommendations for software I can use to do this? Preferably something afforable if possible.
