I know there are many, many videos of this already, but it did feel pretty good to get up to the 1,000,000 coins. You don't get much for it though. Just a different title screen with a gold mario statue and piles of coins.

I started with grinding in 2-4, getting over 9,000 coins per run.

Then I switched to Coin Rush for the rest of it. Used stages 2-4, 2-3, and 1-Tower in that order. Best to do after beating the game so that you can have a gold flower in your reserve item slot.

2-4: Use the given gold flower, get the star and plow your way to the pipe leading to the respawning goombas. Ideally you should have at least or close to 3,000 coins before hitting the flagpole.

2-3: Use the reserve gold flower, grabbing as many combos as you can and any gold blocks, 1-up mushrooms, etc. If you need to, stomp and kick a buzzy beetle against a wall for 5+10 coins per round. Make sure to get a leaf and get hit at the end of the stage so that you can use your leaf to easily get the X2 bonus. Ideally, you should have close to or over 15,000 coins.

1-Tower: Just rush through this if you have over 15,000 coins already. Otherwise, should be able to find at least 200 coins here to add on. If done correctly, you should get 30,000 coins at the end. Low end would be in the 28,000+ coin range.

Now just rinse and repeat the process.
