#4 Fatal Fury 1 Boss Hack (4/8): Hwa Jai playthrough.
A playthrough of Fatal Fury 1 using Yumeji's boss hack.
*Note*: It seems that no bosses can block when you play as them, making them very difficult unless you almost spam attacks.
Regular Hwa Jai's usable Moves:
None.
Drunk Hwa Jai's usable Moves:
Rush Kick: b, f+A
Hwa Jai is, without a doubt, the worse character in the entire game. He does barely any damage. His regular form has no moves, while his drunk form has one move. This move has NO PRIORITY OVER ANY OTHERS IN THE GAME. Every single character can mop the floor with him because he is that awful. His aerial attacks have no priority and don't deal much damage. His only saving graces are that he can (sort of) combo if you're quick enough, and he seems easier to do throws with. That's it. On top of all of that he's the least original character in the game, just being a head swap of Joe Higashi. It's extremely apparent that Hwa Jai was something of a rush job; his design, stage and characteristics all pale in comparison to any other character, and it's not surprisingly it took 20 years for him to make another game appearance. This playthrough was horrendous, but also strangely satisfying. I seriously thought it would have been impossible to beat the game with him, but with a bit of luck and some skill I eventually managed to do it. After having played as the big four, I'm somewhat convinced it was originally Tung Fu Rue who was supposed to be a part of them instead of Hwa Jai, but they just didn't think he fit the bill. Compared to Raiden, Billy and Geese he's nowhere near as powerful, in fact being the weakest character in the whole game. Still, there's some solace in being able to complete a game with it's worst character.
