Used in most towers and dungeons and every sphinx on the Lightside of Xeen.

In the original commission to Tim Tully, this track is titled "Dungeon, below castle".

There are two versions of this cue:
(A) - Original version
(B) - Game version. "Synth 2" part is changed from "Square Wave" to "Synth Brass 4", and the "Viola" part changed from "Cello 1" to "Strings 2". The "Soundtrack" and "Echo Bell" synthesizers have been omitted. (The "Soundtrack" part is labeled in the original MIDI as "South Pole," and instrument which is not part of the MT-32/CM32-L instrument set.)

For version B, the brass instrument is far too jarringly loud in the MT-32 version. For the normal mix I have lowered it by 3db. The original version is included at the end of the soundtrack.


This track has been recorded using a real FM-TOWNS with an OPN2 soundchip by Kazuyuki Sakauchi. There are two versions of this soundtrack. The first version (A) is the original verison, playing only when one game in installed. If both Clouds and Darkside are installed on the same computer, an upgraded version of the soundtrack (B) replaces the original version (A). However, due to some sort of driver programming error, version A does not play correctly in the game itself (random instrumentation and other corruptions). Version X is the errored version.
