473: Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution PS2 \\ Quest mode 8th dan Jacky gets Destroyed but learns something
In Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution on PS2's Quest mode with Jacky Bryant, camping out in the virtual arcade I cleared last week to complete a quest or two, and uh the AI got a little revenge on me. ; )
0:00 - start
2:06 - Perfect hunting in Sega Arena Midtown
28:06 - Destroyer Dude
43:58 - Pai trouble
59:08 - Perfect fashion
1:12:49 - No wake-up Training
1:20:13 - wrap-up & what's next!
I think I'd better do Jacky's Command Training during the week. ; )
Got beat bad and repeatedly in this session, particularly by a Destroyer rank Jacky named "Dude," who took all three of my orbs and vanished: his name isn't listed among those of the AIs I've encountered in this arcade. Wha??
Haven't figured out how to counter Pai's low stance. I did it a few times with just punch/kick spam I guess. Gotta work that out: the other two AIs who savaged me repeatedly were Pais.
BUT I think I figured out the standing low attack problems I've been having: when my Jacky is face-up with his head toward the opponent, that's when I can't seem to stand up with a low attack--he just does a mid attack, which tends to get severely punished (this starts as early as 4'15 in this episode). So, is it just not possible for Jacky to do a low stand up attack from that position? I'll have to confirm that with further painful testing and, if so, just not do an attack in that instance, I guess!
I think it's been coming up more recently because one way to get in that position is by being thrown by the opponent--so, taking more throws against these wilier higher rank opponents, that position will happen more; that's my theory, anyhow.
I did finally get a perfect in the end to complete that quest, hah. : P

For this recording I raised a filter that was capping my maximum mic volume at a pretty low level, and took off the foam windscreen I'd put over the end of the microphone, so my voice should sound more raw and less muffled here--how it was from episode 414, when I raised the mic and game volume by about 9 db, through episode 417; I put the windscreen on at 418, and lowered the mic volume cap in stages from episode 430 to 436. We'll see how long we can all stand my naked vocals. ; )
