In our train adventure through central West Virginia, we went to Elkins and Durbin WV. Both of these cities (towns) played a substantial part in West Virginia's logging and timber boom from around 1870 to 1940's. The good folks at mountain railways have keep many trains operational. While we were expecting a lot of vintage steam trains, we actually found more diesels than Expected!
We found:
Cheseapeake and Ohio Diesel (Elkins line)
Western Maryland Diesel (Elkins line)
Western Maryland Diesel (Salamander line)
US Navy Diesel (Durbin line)
Little Leroi diesel (Durbin line)
