Meet the Engineers of Cass Railroad! Engineers Rex and Ross talk about engines Shay 4 & Heisler 6.
Hey engineers! Go trackside with us and meet Engineer Rex and Engineer Ross as they explain the rails and engines that make Cass Railroad an epic American railway legend!
Eric, Cody and Dr Dad travel to Cass and meet with the good folks at Cass Scenic Railway and Mountain Railroad. They take us behind the scenes and show us their engines and explain how logging was done in the early 1930's in West Virginia.
First we talk with Engineer Rex and Fireman Ben on the Shay Number 4 that runs the Whittaker run to Whittaker station. Engineer Rex tells us how much water is needed and Fireman Ben shows us the fire and how much coal he needs to shovel going up and down the mountain.
Next we travel to Durbin, WV, the home of the Durbin Rocket and the Heisler Number 6 engine. Engineer Ross explains the use of a logging steam locomotive and how it doesn't traditionally use a water tower to fill up, but rather a creek that's crystal clear to refill its tank.
