World at War is the end of an era. At the time, a lot of people looked at World at War as nothing more than a World War 2 reskin of Modern Warfare, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The campaign was a horrifyingly bleak take on the Second World War with a strong story, good gameplay, and online matchmaking for campaign co-op. The multiplayer took what worked in Modern Warfare and added a ton of new gamemodes and larger maps. And we can’t forget about Zombies. While it was basic and glitchy as hell, it added an entire new gamemode that’s become a staple for the entire franchise. There’s even an entire community of players who just buy the game for Zombies, and I’m one of them. Just like Modern Warfare, World at War does have some issues. Zombies was and still is really glitchy, the Juggernaut-MP40 combo could ruin multiplayer, vehicles in multiplayer could be hit-or-miss, and we all know how frustrating the campaign could be on Veteran. Despite those issues, World at War is still an all-time classic and my personal favorite Call of Duty game to date.

Score: 9.5/10

How the score works: It's just a simple rating out of ten. A score of five is a neutral feeling. A score of ten is all positive feelings, with a score of one being all negative feelings. A score of ten doesn't mean there aren't small faults or bugs in the game, or features that would have been cool if they existed. It just means either those faults or bugs haven't affected me or don't detract from the experience in a significant way.
