Infra Arcana version 21.0+ (10/17/21 master Windows build c078746a), three stabs as the War Veteran class:
0:00 - start
0:32 - run 1
13:06 - cursed
43:23 - mold
1:07:10 - fuse oops
1:07:44 - run 2
1:11:39 - deaf
1:29:36 - 2-trap ambush
1:31:02 - run 3
2:17:57 - Electric Guns
2:33:04 - tight spot
2:42:55 - wrap-up & what's next!
For skills I focused on those that keep the character's Shock value low; the game's author did just say on the IA discord that new players shouldn't worry about their characters going insane, but eh it still weirds me out.
Spent most of the session being mad that a curse I got from ringing a gong, and later a bout of deafness I got from ringing a gong :P, just never went away (meanwhile, status ailments received from monsters go away in a handful of turns, generally).
They felt like indefinite debuffs and made me feel like quitting.
Guess I'll stay away from gongs huh. (13:06 - 50% XP to level 2 in exchange for an indefinite curse, I guess, urgh.) (1:11:39 - Horn of Banishment in exchange for indefinite deafness, urgh.)
[I asked on the IA discord and gong effects *are* indefinite, but can be removed by certain benedictions or whatnot...which mostly exist in floors lower than ones I've reached, I guess, or are available specifically to other classes, perhaps. Same with the means or two by which an iron chest can be opened (apparently there are wooden ones that *can* be blasted open, at the risk of breaking some of the contents)--see lower down here. So gongs and iron chests *do* have remedies, but not on the floors I'm on in my noobishness. So maybe they shouldn't really be spawning at my shallow depths. But anyway they are. Well I'll just ignore them until I get lower where the solutions may start becoming available.]
Interesting bit in the middle with an unexpectedly vast room packed with sentient mold, and then packed by me with explosives. Things only really get going right toward the end, though, when I come across some really weird critters with science fiction guns, and then start the next floor in a real jam, packed into a surprisingly tight spot with ghosts and other undead. Not sure the war veteran can do anything besides run from ghosts; I got to wondering if I could blow one up, and that somehow got me to let it corral me back to the dead end at the beginning of the stage, where the ghost whose tomb I had disturbed was waiting for its shot at revenge. Bit of a tactical blunder there, should have done pretty much anything besides let it hem me back in!
(It perfectly cut off my one path of escape, but I bet I could have cleared the path by backtracking just slightly, then dashing past for the exit when the ghost followed me.)
Nasty ambush at 1:29:36: blinded and entangled by two traps in the same room, then set upon by cultists. Yikes! Still deaf too. :P
Oh yeah and I found a locked chest that I just couldn't figure out how to open. You'd think a bunch of shotgun blasts would do something... There's probably some "open locked chest" key I'm overlooking or something that I'll feel real silly about.
Oh yeah, the other tactical blunder was underestimating the speed of the fuse on a stick of dynamite I was holding. = PP
