#771 Tekken 7 (PC/Steam) BONUS: Devil Kazumi Treasure Battle gameplay.
Gameplay of the unplayable boss Devil Kazumi in the Treasure Battle mode of Namco’s Tekken 7.
I’d feel weird not doing some more Devil Kazumi footage, particularly as we waited 2+ years to finally play as her in the ports of this game. Her general playstyle is more or less just Kazumi with a few extras, but I actually quite like what her moveset has to offer for a Mishima-derivative. I finally show off her derivative of Heihachi’s air kicks in this video, and a few other moves here and there which I hadn’t shown before. I tend to get quite cheap, I’ll admit, but I do like to utilise the cheap elements of bosses just to show the huge advantages they do or don’t have. Also, I just enjoy playing as Devil Kazumi. Kinda makes me want to main Kazumi quite frankly, but that’s a thought for another year at best. I was actually trying to reach and fight one of those special bosses (Final Heihachi, Devil Kazuya and Shin Akuma), but I couldn’t get to them because I didn’t realise you can only fight them if you’ve finished Story Mode. Which I haven’t. Because it’s pretty shit. C’est la vie; if there’s ever a boss mod to play as them then I’ll certainly do videos on them.
I also decided to take Devil Kazumi online for a few matches after this. There were some…less than thrilled messages from my opponents afterwards, to say the least.
And that’s it. That is it. Tekkens 1 to 7. Goddamn, didn’t that take a while. Sure, I’ll return eventually with the boss vids for T6 and TTT2, as well as the other guest characters for T7, but other than that, this is the first major series completed in this long-arse archive. And it only took three years. And eight hundred videos. Hey, I did say this was going to take a while.
Indeed, this was why I wanted to do Tekken in full. Finishing up is the name of the game from now on, be that starting and finishing uncovered series in one fell swoop, or be it finally completing many started series. Indeed, this is it. The turning point. A slow descent towards the finish to be sure, but a descent nonetheless. Not in quality by any means, but with less than 500 videos left to go this is being very much on the other side of the fence. A long way to go, sure, but it is a generally smooth road to the finish, even if there’s still a year or two left of this.
All in all, I’m so glad to have been able to cover the whole of the Tekken series, and to finally bring this channel into the modern era. This series can drive me a little mad at times, and I suppose it will never truly be “my series” gameplay-wise, but I still love it for what it is. Tekken is a fantastic series on the whole, which has (mostly) gone from strength, to strength, to strength, getting better in each entry gameplay-wise if not necessarily in extras. Indeed, we’ve seen the series which typified extras in a fighting game suddenly change to being completely devoid of them at all. Understandable, I suppose, considering the way competitive gaming is nowadays, but “muh competitiveness” was the same excuse for Capcom rushing out SFV, so I’m still not too warm to it. But, that’s how it goes. It is what it is, and even the later games had some fun and interesting things to cover. Not Tekken 6 though, fuck that game.
