Rogue City Scavenger, by Numeron Reactor

Games can choose to force progression: in fact, one might call this a cornerstone of Rogue-like mechanics, since it adds another element of decision-making. However, there are two ways to enforce it: "hard timers" give an exact limit (such as a countdown) that you can anticipate, while "soft timers" provide merely an incentive that influences your decisions. This game has a very nice twist on "soft timer" mechanics, as there's a single, slow but invincible enemy, and constant danger around every corner. Ultimately you have to keep moving, always moving, but where you do and can move has very significant consequences. Add in the fact that your objectives call you to go to specific areas, and you have a very nice puzzle-styled roguelike. It's probably a little too steep in the first bits, but it's a fun and stimulating challenge all the same.
