So this is a cool project we got to work on this summer!

TakingITGlobal and ConnectedNorth are a group we work with to reach out to kids in schools on Native American Reservations across Canada.

They recently found out that Mom (Cyndi Baird Hughes) is enrolled Chippewa Turtle Mountain Tribe, and that Trevor James Hughes and I were the 1st generation in our family under blood quantum (so we're Native descended, but can't enroll, and are from a background called Metis which is a fusion of French Fur Traders and Ojibwe tribes like Turtle Mountain).

So, they gave us a grant from the Samuel Connected North Youth Leadership Fund to make a video where we got to learn from Valentina Lapier and Carly Byung-Ho about Native culture as well as how to make Fry Bread (including the history of how Fry Bread came into existence).

Big thanks to Valentina and Carly for being willing to teach us, and also a big thank you to Pizazz for being willing to be open on their off-day to let us use their kitchen as a filming studio!

We had so much fun learning, and are so grateful to ConnectedNorth and everyone involved for the experience!
