http://bit.ly/NK9sU0 For anyone that has hated the practice of online passes or DLC for new games, which is pretty much everyone, there's been a big win for the consumers in California. In a class action lawsuit, the law firm of Baron and Budd filed a lawsuit against the chain stating that Gamestop has been making large profits of trade-in games while buyers of these used games would end up having to purchase DLC that is free if you buy the game new. The class action settlement with Gamestop will require Gamestop stores to post signs warning that used games may require a purchase of DLC, and if you have already purchased a used game, you may qualify for reimbursement of the monetary amount of the DLC that came with the new game. For example, if a game has an online pass, you may be able to get that money back in form of a check and coupon.

Baron and Budd has created a Facebook page for info regarding the settlement with a full website soon to come that lets consumers submit their claim. No word from Gamestop in regards to the settlement. Who knows how much this will change things with Gamestop, and other companies that do trade-ins.
