Darkseed Day 2, in which Mike Dawson's goal is now to receive a piece of alien microfiche to use at his local library. Really! The object is to get a piece of stone from his wine cellar, but he won't know to do that unless he reads an article about a rash of thefts and how that's a good place to hide valuables. Aliens on his side, fighting the evil aliens (the Ancients) give this to him via supercomputer.
If you're wondering what else is going on, Mike discovers via John McKeegan's journal that the police station in linked in the light and dark world. After being arrested for graverobbing, he hides his money, gloves, and bobby pin in the jail cell's pillow so that he can go to the Dark World later. By stealing the Light World police gun off the wall, the Dark World policeman can't kill him, so they arrest him instead and take his items, meaning he must retrieve the gloves, money, and pin to save the world.
