90-Second Review: Wargroove 2
10A 90-second review of Wargroove 2, by Chucklefish and Robotality, for the Nintendo Switch!
A sequel to the fantastic Wargroove in 2019, Wargroove 2 improves on the original in some ways but at the same time also feels TOO much like the first one.
The campaign is broken up into 4 pieces, but it's the roguelike mode which sets it apart. Choose a commander and skill and then your army and make a run to conquest! The randomization makes the mode replayable and you earn gems to unlock new things as you go.
But it's that samey-samey feel that will haunt you. Outside of a few new clans, the game feels and plays the same. I thought we were getting a roguelike pirate game, but Nadia is only a new character and one small campaign. The promise of a whole new world isn't there when a dozen old character remain, all playing second fiddle to everything else.
UI issues, some crashing, and an unforgivable reduction of the important of the stars really hamper this second effort.
Wargroove 2 gets a 7 out of 10!
