This isn't necessarily about Usmashing people who break out of Egg Lay, but using the platforms on Battlefield (and other similarly spaced platforms) so that you can use grounded options that'll still hit the opponent. Other than getting a fully charged Usmash on the opponent (which still isn't guaranteed, btw), you can go with the safer option of shielding and reacting to whatever the opponent does. Also, you can JC Usmash out of shield, so the option is still there.
