7In This Video We Are Looking At Nitrux 2.5.0 has just been released. The highlights of this release are KDE Plasma 5.26.2 and a XanMod kernel in version 6.0.6.
XanMod kernel
With KDE Plasma 5.26.2, Frameworks 5.99.0 and KDE Gear 22.08.2, the Debian-based Nitrux stays close to the evolution of the KDE desktop. In addition, there are the Maui apps and shell developed by Nitrox . The whole thing is underpinned by a XanMod kernelin version 6.0.6. It is a Linux kernel modification with customized settings and new features, built to provide a stable, responsive and smooth desktop experience. XanMod is the standard kernel for Nitrux. It is primarily intended for Debian/Ubuntu systems, but can probably be used elsewhere. XanMod is also available on their project page in a real-time version intended for critical runtime applications such as Linux gaming, eSports, streaming and music productions that require very low latency.
Distrobox and Bismuth as extras
But back to Nitrux itself: The Nvidia driver v520.56.06 is delivered together with Nvidia Prime in the standard version of the distribution. The minimal ISO comes without NVIDIA for reasons of space. Other goodies include the Bismuth plugin for KDE Plasma, which gives KWin tiling capabilities, and Distrobox .
It is a wrapper around Docker or Podman to create and launch containers in the terminal that are highly integrated with the host. These containers house any distribution and allow access to the user's home directory, Wayland and X11 sockets, networks, removable media, the systemd journal, DBus, udev, and other components.

The Nitrux developers have published a new release which features updates to KDE Plasma, the Firefox browser and includes NVIDIA's proprietary video driver. "We've updated the following components of the distribution. For other information, see Notes. KDE Plasma to version 5.26.2, KDE Frameworks to version 5.99.0, and KDE Gear to version 22.08.2. Firefox to version 106.0.2. We've decided to add the NVIDIA Proprietary driver to the default installation, currently version 520.56.06, along with NVIDIA Prime, but not our X11 configuration. We've decided to change our policy about including this particular piece of proprietary software to make this distribution more accessible to users and to avoid creating a separate ISO file. The minimal ISO does not include the NVIDIA Proprietary driver, as we want to keep the size of the ISO image small. We're aware that NVIDIA had released an open-source driver, too; however, it only supports a handful of professional graphics cards and almost none of their consumer graphics cards
