Stellar Blade is a single-player action-adventure game. The player embodies the main protagonist Eve from a third-person view. Gameplay is divided into two parts: combat and exploration.Combat focuses on fighting to counter enemy attacks and using combined skills and items to defeat enemies, including bosses in dedicated phases.
Stellar Blade takes place on Earth in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting, following the invasion of the planet by the Naytibas. The deadly clashes between this major extraterrestrial force and humanity led to the destruction of the planet and the exile of some of the human survivors to orbital colonies. Nevertheless, while Earth remains largely occupied by the Naytibas, humans are also clustered in Xion, the planet's last human city.
The story focuses on Eve, who comes from an orbital colony. She is a soldier in the 7th Airborne Squadron. Extremely agile, she is equipped with firearms and a long blade to defeat her enemies. She is sent on a mission with her elite military corps to save the Earth. After the failure of the operation, she is the only survivor of her squadron, but she sets out to continue her mission, aided on her journey by Earth survivors such as Adam, who is in search of a special energy source (called hypercells), and Lily, who works as a support engineer. She also meets Orcal.
