EDIT : I just want to thank everyone for the advice. I've been forwarding it to my uncle, he's basically our "tech guy" here at the house, so I've been giving him any advice that's come down through the comments here. I'll keep you posted on what happens.

Long story short, my mum's computer has been having issues for awhile, so I'm hoping someone nicely tech-savvy can help out here, maybe knows what's going on with it and can tell us how to fix it. Any help here is greatly appreciated.
