The openSUSE project has unveiled a beta snapshot of the project's upcoming openSUSE 15.6 "Leap" release. The new release will include updates to virtually all system components as well as the GNOME and Plasma desktops: "Built on top of SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 Service Pack 6, the Beta, which has full compatibility with the enterprise Linux release will focus on stability and offer an option for those seeking to migrate to an enterprise distribution. One core aspect of Leap 15.6 is the Linux Kernel 6.4 version, which will have extensive backport updates and the release is expected to gain fresher software and hardware support. Along with the updated Kernel version, glibc 2.38, systemd 254 and firmware updates with dracut 059+ version are expected to enhance processing power and faster boot times.

The beta version of openSUSE Leap 15.6 has been announced. Billed as a brand new way to build openSUSE and a new way to create a new kind of hybrid GNU/Linux distribution , the new version is advertised as a release ready for public beta testing with GNOME 45, supported by the 6.4 Linux kernel series, and SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 Service Pack. OpenSUSE Leap 15.6 Beta, built on 6 (SP6), is reportedly bundled with KDE Plasma 5.27 LTS and the GNOME 45 desktop environment series. While it is stated that GNOME users will be pleased with the GNOME 45 update, which will improve the user experience with new features and improvements, it is stated that for KDE Plasma desktop users, this beta offers a newer Qt 6 update to ensure compatibility with the latest applications. While openSUSE Leap 15.6-beta was announced, the release schedule of openSUSE Leap 15.6 has also become clear . In the meantime, bugs are kindly requested to be reported to openSUSE's bugzilla.
