Quickfire review: A two-minute showcase without frills, just enough information to decide to give it a try or move on.

Part roguelite, part base management sim, not the genres expected to usually come together. But Cult of the Lamb blends the two in an entertaining mash-up, while hiding a rather mature theme beneath its cutesy 2D art-style.
You play as a lamb-turned-cult leader after being resurrected by an imprisoned, mysterious figure called The One Who Waits. To free your new master you must build your own flock, all the while providing your followers a base where they can eat, sleep, worship, and take a deuce every so often (no kidding, you WILL scoop up poop in this game). Your followers’ loyalty will then give you the strength (by upgrading your skill tree) to go on crusades, the dungeon crawler part of the game, to cleanse the randomized levels of “heretics” and gather resources. These resources can then be used to expand your base, uplift your followers’ loyalty, and gain more skills. Rinse. Repeat. Satisfying.
The combat in this game is simplistic to say the least leaving you nothing to yearn for once the game is complete. But overall, it was an entertaining ride while it lasted. When will you get a chance to be an adorable lamb slaughtering enemies while ordering your followers to eat a bowl of fertilizer?

Pros:
- Fantastic art style
- Blending two seemingly unrelated genres made sense and fun
- Roguelite game loop feels satisfying

Cons:
- Combat could feel simplistic to some
- Not much to do after finishing the game
- Behind the wholesome art style is a theme that might not be for everyone

Time to complete: 14-16 hours
Available on: PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Playstation 4/5
Price: $24.99
Reviewed on: PC
