A Holmesian's Review of SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE AWAKENED (2023)
6A remake of the much-loved original of the same name, Awakened 2023 keeps much of the same story beats and locations, while expanding development of Holmes and Watson's friendship and respective characters. From rainy London to a dark, asylum in Switzerland that needs several malpractice lawsuits, from bright and sunny New Orleans to deep and dangerous swamps, all the way to stormy Scotland, this adventure spans some of the globe looking for a Lovercraftian cult. In the process, Holmes and Watson may not come back entirely whole... or at all, as the danger mounts.
It may not be the most canon faithful for purists, or the most terrifying game for horror games, but it's an interesting exploration of what fear can do to people, and how two people grow close in difficult times.
