The joke text:
Three guys are sitting in a bar when a great fairy appears. The great fairy says: "I grant you three wishes." The first guy responds: "That's cool, I'd like to have a million dollars." and the fairy says: "No problem it's in your account, boom." The second guy says "So the first guy has a million dollars. But I want ten million!" And the fairy says: "Sure, ten million for you." Then, the third guy makes his wish: "So this guy has a million dollars. And this on has ten million dollars. But I want to have a bouncy butt." And the fairy responds: "Well that's odd, but here you go. Bouncy Butt."
Then the first guy makes his second wish: "Okay, I have a million dollars. Now I want to have my own island." And the fairy says: "Own island, gotcha. Here it is." The second guy is next: "So I have ten million dollars. And of course I want ten islands. And the fairy responds: "Ten islands, sure thing. All yours. Then the third guy says: "So this guy has one island. And this guy has ten. But I want to be only an inch high." And the fairy answers: "Strange choice, but there you go. You're an inch high."
For the third wish, the first guy says: "I already have a million dollars. And I have my own island. So please give me a beautiful wife." And the fairy responds: "No problem, she's waiting for you on your island." Then the second guy makes his final wish: "Okay, so I have ten million dollars. And I have ten islands. So clearly I'm gonna go for ten wives." And the fairy answers: "Ten wives, one for each island. There you go." Then the third guy makes his final wish: "This guy has a wife now. And this guy has ten! But my final wish is... to jump around on the crank of a Playdate for the rest of my life." "Your wishes are certainly interesting," says the fairy, "and your final wish is granted."
...
After the fairy is gone, the first guy suggests: "Let's meet in this bar again in ten years... and talk about how our lives went." So they leave for their exciting new lives.
...
After ten years, they meet again at the same place.
The first guy tells the others about his life: "Everything is great! From the money, I built a school for disadvantaged children. Now, I am living happily with my wife on my island. The second guy brags: "My life is awesome! I am jetting around from island to island! Parties every night in my own mansions!" and the third guy reports: "Guys... my wishes were crap."
"Playdate is familiar, but unlike anything you've ever seen. It has a very special black and white screen – not backlit, but super reflective – that looks way more amazing than you're probably imagining.
It also has a peppy little processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a surprisingly loud loudspeaker. And when you're not using it, the screen doesn't turn off – it becomes a very nice low-power clock!
The Design
Thanks to our friends at Teenage Engineering, Playdate looks incredible. It's colorful. It fits in your pocket. And we worked hard to make sure buttons feel perfectly clicky and that the crank action is silky smooth.
The Crank
Yes, the crank. Is it a gimmick? Nah. Does it charge the Playdate's battery? Nope. Is it really fun? Yes yes yes! It's an analog controller that flips out from the side, allowing you to precisely dial in the action.
The Season
Here's the truly unique bit. Playdate isn't just an empty system. Once you set up your Playdate, you'll start to receive two brand new games... every week. For 12 weeks.
That's 24 free games, in lots of genres. Some are short. Some are long. Will you love them all? Probably not. Will you have a great time trying them? Absolutely."
