A Machine for Pigs in Retrospective
My review of Amnesia, a Machine for Pigs.
This game is the farthest you can get on relying on ambiance, tone and immersion. For some people the "payoff" may not be often enough or strong enough. Others may want the game to include more puzzle and combat elements. The thing is, the market is a bit saturated on games that rely on using those elements to force a kind of horror that not only encourages gaming the game a bit, but are also usually immersion breaking.
This game also focuses more on character, and how your relation to that character influences your mind set. The madness that Mandus is experiencing makes this far more interesting than just a horror game 100% focused on the fear of monsters to me.
Amnesia a machine for pigs was developed by the Chinese Room and published by Frictional Games. All commentary belongs to me.
