A New Atari Lynx Game in 2024? Microvaders from Songbird Productions!
40Back in the day, the Nintendo Game Boy was the absolute king of handheld video games. It had the best library for sure, but where it lacked was in it's display. The Game Boy only used 2 basic colors, and they weren't great looking colors at that. This is where Atari looked to capitalize with their FULL COLOR Atari Lynx handheld. It promised to be a better system, and while the display was color the games didn't always measure up. As such, the Lynx struggled at retail, but there are a few companies still supporting it in 2024. One of which is our good friend Carl with Songbird Productions. Not only does he produce games for the Nuon and Jaguar but also for the Atrari Lynx. His latest game is a TATE mode arcade style shooter, taking influence from Galaga, Galaxian, and Space Invaders. This is Microvaders.

First Impression:
If you like Space Invaders and Galaga, this is the game for you. The TATE mode orientation is a perfect choice and it fits the game so well. The music and graphics are terrific, even if the graphics underscore how much I really need to IPS Mod my Lynx II. I've only spent about 30-minutes with the game thus far, but man, Microvaders is a lot of fun.
