3 Controllers Nintendo GOT WRONG! Nintendo's Worst Controllers
Nintendo is known for making some of the best controllers ever made. From the Super Nintendo and the Gamecube Controllers, to the Wii Remote and even the NES Dogbone controller. Sometimes, however, Nintendo misses the mark and doesn't quite get a controller right for all gamers. Let's take a look at 3 controllers Nintendo got wrong for a variety of different reasons, and which controllers I think are among Nintendo's worst.
Number 3
Wii U Gamepad
I will admit I don't hate the Gamepad, but I do hate the way it was implemented in a variety of different games. For example, I love being able to fire it up and just play in handheld mode without needing a TV. It is very much like the Nintendo Switch in that way. However certain games forced you to only use certain aspects of the Wii U Gamepad. Star Fox Zero, for example, I thought the motion controls ruined that game.
Number 2
Nintendo 64 Controller
Much like the Wii U Gamepad, I don't hate the concept of the N64 controller. It is versatile and can be used in 3 different ways. What I really don't like about the N64 controller is how easily it wears out and develops slop in the analog stick. If you play games such as Mario Party, you know how quickly the sticks gears can be ground to powder in no time flat! Conceptually the N64 controller is fantastic, but it lacks durability which hurts its perception for me.
Number 1
Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons
I may be one of the few people hoping that Nintendo doesn't use a Joy Con-style controller with the Switch 2, Super Switch, or whatever the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be. I think the controls are WAY too small for the average gamer, from analog sticks to buttons. I'd complain about the D-Pads, but the stock Joy-Cons don't have them, which is one of Nintendo's biggest misses, which they eventually addressed on the Switch Lite. I have been lucky to not have to fight Joy-Con drift, but I know plenty of others who have. These are easily my least favorite controllers Nintendo has ever produced.
What about you? What Nintendo Switch Controllers do you find miss the mark? Leave your opinions in the comments!
