"A New Dawn" (first song in Ableton Live)
4This is my first full song in Ableton Live (11) - or any DAW, for that matter. I've learned that my singing voice needs vast improvement; as a result of this experience, I've decided that I will not be singing in the future! My apologies to those dear listeners who find themselves distressed by my singing. But, having spent a fair amount of time on this, I thought I would put in out there, for the record, and hope those with a kind ear might still find some enjoyment in it.
My focus has been on learning music production, and not on being a vocalist - and now I've figured out I REALLY should not waste any more time on my own singing. On the production side, I realize I could have done more with the singing here, but I decided I needed to draw the line and just move on, this time. And by the way, I did TRY using Autotune, but could not manage to fix my shaky vibrato. So, I decided to just not use it.
So, this has been a learning experience, and I think it's given me a better idea of what to focus on. These kind of slow, emotional songs aren't really my thing, but for some reason this is what I felt I needed to express at this time, I guess (writing lyrics tends to create this kind of mood - enough of that!). Now, I can move on to focusing on areas and styles I'm more interested in. I hope this leads to greater motivation and improvement. Wish me luck! Thanks so much for your time!
