"A Plague Tale: Innocence" is a video game that takes place in France during the 14th century. The game follows the story of two siblings, Amicia and Hugo de Rune, as they try to survive in a world plagued by a mysterious and deadly illness known as the "Black Death."

The game begins with Amicia and her father, Robert de Rune, hunting in the forest. Suddenly, they are attacked by soldiers who are searching for Hugo. The two manage to escape, but Robert is captured and killed. Amicia is left to protect her younger brother, Hugo, who is believed to be the key to finding a cure for the Black Death.

As they journey through the countryside, Amicia and Hugo encounter other survivors, including a group of children who have banded together to try and stay alive. They also encounter swarms of rats that are attracted to the disease, and which pose a constant threat to the siblings and those around them.

Amicia and Hugo eventually learn that their family has a long-standing connection to the rats and the Black Death, and that Hugo's blood may hold the key to a cure. They are pursued by the Inquisition, who believe that Hugo's powers are a sign of witchcraft and must be eradicated.

Throughout the game, Amicia and Hugo must work together to survive, solve puzzles, and fight off enemies. The game's story is one of survival, family, and the struggle to overcome adversity in a world that seems determined to destroy them.

In the end, Amicia and Hugo reach the home of a renowned alchemist who is able to extract the cure from Hugo's blood. The two siblings are able to save themselves and the others who have survived the disease. The game concludes with Amicia and Hugo setting off on a new journey, hopeful for what the future may bring.
