A Rant About Essential Workers Getting Snubbed In Connecticut's Vaccine Plan
1This was one heck of a recap discussion during a stream regarding the Connecticut governor's recent decision to "simplify" Connecticut's vaccine rollout plan to run exclusively based on age - eliminating the phase for essential workers in the process.
Healthcare workers and folks in long-term facilities as well as the elderly getting the vaccine first made sense, but when you get to folks who are still working going exclusively by age snubs people who are putting themselves at risk and often getting poorly compensated for it. Plus if the governor wants to encourage people to work and help start the economy back up then tying vaccines to working is lost potential left on the table.
Hopefully the ramping up of doses from the companies manufacturing the vaccines render these concerns largely moot, but as of the end of February 2021, it doesn't look that way. ๐
