A scrub longplays BioShock 1, with unfitting Splatoon music
My first time playing through BioShock. Unfortunately, I knew all the would-you-kindly stuff from pop-cultural osmosis, since I was about 10.
The gimmick is that I play a shuffle of Splatoon music in the background that 90% of the time doesn't fit the tone of what's happening.
Splatoon is kind of reverse BioShock, though, if you think about it. Splatoon is set in the distant future, in a surface city of molluscs with human features. BioShock is set in the near past, in an underwater city of humans with mollusc (ADAM slug) features.
Also, now that I think of it, there's probably some BioShock influence in Octo Expansion, in that they're both about an amnesiac trying to escape from an undersea metro system while guided by a telephone resembling a Wheatstone and Cooke N313, who then betrays the amnesiac and tries to destroy the city. Respawning is canon in both, until the final escape sequence where you can die for real and time just goes back. Also there's body horror. Still not as much influence on Octo Expansion as Portal had, though.
by the way it's called bioshock because you hear frank fontaine's voice, you realise you're bisexual, and you say "oh!" in shock

Give my thanks to "squidhominid" and "rassicas", for helping me realise that I was a person with my own existence to cherish rather than just a tabula rasa to reflect the image of others onto.
