A Spaghetti Western Action Roguelike Adventure! – Colt Canyon –
Colt Canyon is an Indie, Action Roguelike Top down shooter with a massive Spaghetti Western vibe, brought to life with heavily stylized Pixel Graphics.
A Wild West World:
In Colt Canyon, the canyon dungeons are Random, forged of Procedural Generation, so you never know exactly what will be in each room.
Could be crazed farmers defending their fields, an outlaw camp, or insane tribal types rushing you with shields and metal armor; deflecting your shots as they close!
Remember to dodge cowboy!
Bodies and bloodstains remain on the ground as well, reminding you both of which ways you have already gone, and of past gun-slinging battles; fun.
There are hostages to rescue, who let you pick 1 of 5 upgrades after rescuing them, or you can even have them join you!
Letting you form up your own little possie gang, as you can have more than 1 companion if you so choose…
There are merchants to find as well, some of who do trades; like ammo or dynamite for their items, while others will take bits of your life for their wares!
You can go back to previously visited lvls if you want too, in case you left a new gun behind and want to go grab it.
Gun Slinging, Action Packed Combat:
You collect ammo and other weapons as you blast your way through the zone, perhaps picking up a new sidearm, or trading one out if ammo runs low, or if you want a change.
You can carry 1 weapon and an alt by default.
There is no default bump damage in Colt Canyon; good, as it means enemies must actually make the effort to attack to hurt you.
Enemies have collision as well, meaning you can’t just walk through them like they’re a ghost.
This means a foe’s physicality matters, as they can physically block you in, especially in numbers, and this encourages player movement to takeout their more numerous foes.
Sneaking around is optional, though sneak attack deal massive damage if you hit an unaware foe with a “?” over their head, often 1 shoting them; nice!
There are many kinds of handguns, long guns, melee weapons, broken bottles, so lots of options here.
Controller Support is present as well, as is good old mouse and keyboard.
I found the gameplay felt more responsive with mouse and keyboard for me, so that’s what I went with in the above video.
Local Co-op is present as well, in case that is something that interests you.
In co-op, each player has a different colored ring under their character to tell each other apart; handy.
Colt Canyon is offering a fun Spaghetti Western Action Roguelike Adventure, for up to 2 partners at once, (if you swing that way), and is easily well worth a wishlist and a watch.
