What happens when a dead star is consumed by a live one? The result is a Thorne-Żytkow Object. First proposed in the 1970s, these are red giant stars in binary systems, which have absorbed their neutron star companion. When this happens, the giant star will usually remain intact for at least a few hundred years, so what happens during that time?
