A Study on Sadness
14I got to preach to my church's youth group a few weeks ago. I finally got the video of the service, so now I can finally upload it here. XD
The topic we covered was Sadness. Dealing with sadness and depression is something that can be challenging, but it is possible to come out of it better.
This is the outline for this lesson. :)
A Study on Sadness
"... and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Revelation 7: 17
1. Reasons for and Instances of Sadness in Scripture
a. Sorrow over sin (Psalm 51)
b. Sorrow over death (John 11: 33-36)
c. Sorrow over others' choices (1 Samuel 20: 34, 41)
d. Sorrow over circumstances (Ruth 1: 19-22)
2. Exposition
a. Everyone goes through sad events.
b. It's okay to be sad, but not okay to stay there.
c. Sadness can cause major problems if not dealt with.
d. Overcoming sadness can make a person capable of better helping
others dealing with similar grief.
3. Solution
a. Ask God for help. (Psalm 55: 22)
b. Ask friends for help. (Job 2: 11-13)
c. Remember God will turn grief to joy. (John 16: 19-22)
d. Remember God will work all things for good. (Romans 8: 28)
