Psalm 23
This is a lesson that I got to teach to my church's youth group about the most famous Psalm in the Bible (arguably).
Here's the outline for it. :)
PSALM 23
Psalm 23:1
THE LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
1. OPENING: THE PEACEFUL PASTURE (V. 1-3)
A. THE LORD IS SUFFICIENT (v. 1)
B. THE LORD GIVES PEACE (v. 2)
C. THE LORD RESTORES (v. 3a)
D. THE LORD GUIDES (v. 3b)
2. CONFLICT: THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW (V. 4-5)
A. THE LORD IS PRESENT AND COMFORTS (v. 4a)
B. THE LORD PROTECTS AND DISCIPLINES (v. 4b)
C. THE LORD PROVIDES AND GUARDS (v. 5a)
D. THE LORD HEALS AND BLESSES (v. 5b)
3. CLIMAX: THE HOUSE OF THE LORD (V. 6)
A. THE LORD IS GOOD (v. 6a)
B. THE LORD IS MERCIFUL (v. 6a)
C. THE LORD IS FAITHFUL (v. 6a)
D. THE LORD KEEPS HIS SHEEP (v. 6b)
When David needed spiritual refreshment, the Shepherd provided green pastures. When David was weary, the Shepherd provided still waters. When David needed revival, the Shepherd restored his soul. When David needed guidance, the Shepherd led him in right paths. When David was confronted with death, the Shepherd went with him with supernatural presence. When David was surrounded by enemies, the Shepherd provided a victory table. When David was wounded, the Shepherd anointed his head with oil. When David needed companionship, the Shepherd sent goodness and mercy to be with him. When David would leave this life, the Shepherd would provide a Heavenly Home forever.
