A surprising turn of events in OlliOlli 2
I did another speed-run stream tonight, and while I didn't get a PB or even a particularly good run, there was one interesting thing that happened.
Normally the "absolute focus" star takes me a really long time. The way the game works is that every time you touch a surface you have to press a button or a direction or some combination, and every time you jump you let go of whatever direction you were holding. The game gives you a different score based on how close you are to the surface when you press the buttons to land on it, with perfect being the most difficult.
It becomes even harder when there are long drops, for two reasons: first you are moving faster, and second because it is much easier to precisely time an action if another action immediately preceded it. The pause between jumping and landing makes it harder to get the timing right.
All this means that the "absolute focus" star is one of the hardest in Amateur, especially the first time. I think it took me at least an hour my first time, and it was one of the parts of my speed-run PB that took the longest.
Tonight I got it by accident, in the process of getting one of the other stars on the level.
Too bad it was a really bad run in almost every other respect.
