A Talk with the World’s Fastest Gran Turismo Driver: Mikail Hizal
512A while ago, I had a great conversation with Gran Turismo world champion Mikail Hizal. He shared some incredible insights into what really drove him to pursue Gran Turismo competitively.
He walked me through his journey. He talked about how he became a true believer in the game, how he evolved as a sim racing driver, and what helped him understand car dynamics on a deeper level. One thing that stood out was his emphasis on consistency and how critical it is in racing.
We also talked about track memorization, finding the ideal racing line, and how he managed to balance competitive racing with his engineering studies at the time.
Naturally, we touched on adapting to new cars, why some perform better than others, and why BoP isn't really the problem people think it is.
And of course, we looked at the bigger picture. We discussed the opportunities Gran Turismo and sim racing offer, and what Mikail expects from the sequel going forward.
