This is a video essay that sets out to accomplish a few goals. First, I identify key issues that are totally broken with the current home video game console generations model. I then propose solutions to fix console generations based not on year of release or what other consoles were on the market, but based on the capabilities of the consoles themselves.

It turns out that there are more generations than you might think!

My ultimate goal is for other content creators to adopt some or all of the ideas put forth herein. Video game scholarship is in its infancy still. We have plenty of time to fix this.
