While this video contains some psychology, this is an opinion piece based on the ideas rooted in that field. I don't claim that every single game that anyone has ever disliked is actually secretly great, but misunderstood, but I do believe this sort of thing happens. For example, if you bite into something expecting to taste donuts, but it turns out that it is actually a hamburger, you might be disturbed by that, even if you like hamburgers. Because it is not what you are expecting the experience is then going to be negative. I just applied this idea of expectations and writing things off to help illustrate a potential reason that good games are rated poorly. Thanks for watching, sources are below.
