19Super quick video comparison of the reload speed of pipe weapons:
Machine gun ~3 seconds
Rifle ~3.5 seconds
Pistol ~5 seconds
Shotgun ~6 seconds
Yes, the shotgun definitely does the most per-shot damage, but having 18 or so rounds in the machine gun with a fast reload provides a lot of control, even if the per-shot damage is much lower. Ammo considerations, enemy type, etc. will determine what's best for you. These are all vanilla speeds--no perks, no mods, no anything. Just base speeds.

7 Days to Die alpha 20 has way too much new stuff to list. Seriously. Go read the patch notes, but make sure you're comfortable.
To be sure, though, check out the pipe weapons. The new pipe pistol, pipe shotgun, pipe machine gun, pipe shotgun, and pipe baton are a hoot. The Fun Pimps have outdone themselves this time around!
