Abuse was released in 1995 and was the first side-scroller action game I can remember were you could use your mouse for aiming and the keyboard for controling your charakter.
The game came out with a map editor for your own levels as well.

The game studio that created Abuse has closed some years ago. Now is the game a abadoned one. That means you can download it for free on many abadonware websites without getting in troube with the law.
