Ace Combat 3 is one of those games that are quite special, not because its a sequel to a great game or even because it is a great game it self, but because theres two completely different versions of its own, confusing? I know, here's how,

Ace Combat 3, the original Japanese version is about twice has big then the American and European versions, here's what it contains it contains:

Ace Combat 3 (Japanese version),

52 Missions
5 possible ending
Multiple sub missions and stories
Anime Cutscenes
A Storyline
Non Linear Mission structure

Now, this sounds great for sure, but the more common version, the American and European one, is another story, here's how it is,

Ace Combat 3 (American, European)

36 Mission
No different endings
no sub missions or stories
Only 22 Aircraft
No cutscenes
No storyline at all
Linear

I don't know why this version changed so much, why was is so short? Linear?
I don't know, maybe the reason was because Ace Combat 3 is different then the others? More Futuristic, futuristic airplanes, futuristic theme... Maybe people didn't like it this way back then? I don't know, i just know i would of have enjoyed this a lot more if it was like the Japanese version and i wouldn't give a fuck about it being futuristic or whatever has far has the gameplay was good,

Now, don't get me wrong, im playing the more common American/European version of the game, and its damn good, but after hearing about the Japanese version being twice has big, i just fell that those guys released a port that goes beyond laziness,

Anyways, after this playthrough, i'll take a look at the Japanese version, if i like it, i may do playthrough of that one later,

Now, Ace Combat 3 still has an amazing soundtrack and great gameplay like the previews titles in the series, but this time, we have a completely futuristic setting, the game it self contains some Aircraft that do not exist in real life, gameplay wise its actually a improvement, the controls have been vastly improved, its still an arcade game, NOT a flight simulator, but things are a bit more "real" then they were before, the sense of speed isn't has fantastic has AC2 but its still pretty good and the graphic were vastly improved, just amazing how they manage to make the reflections of the sun in the ocean, if you have in consideration this is ps1 hardware,
The planes also have a much higher polygon count and textures,

Enjoy the Playthrough,
