As hostilities between Neucom and General Resource turn into full-blown war, NEMO, Jaeger and Rena are sent to the city of Port Edwards in order to intervene in the battle between the companies that broke out there. Shortly after finishing their mission, disturbances start to occur in the Electrosphere, an experimental transhumanistic world created by Neucom. This is followed by a transmission from Ouroboros, a terrorist organization made up of various transhumanists who believe that the only way for humanity to advance is to abandon its phyisical form and collectively digitize its consciousness, revealing that their leader and currently only existing transhuman is in fact Abyssal Dision whose consciousness was apparently transfered into Electrosphere after he was physically killed in General Resource's assassination a decade prior. To make situation even worse, after Ouroboros' broadcast ends, Park individually contacts all of UPEO's flying aces, including NEMO, revealing his own connection to Ouroboros and imploring them to join Ouroboros' cause before announcing that UPEO's aviation wing has effectively been disbanded.

After Park's announcement, Rena takes her plane and heads to Dision's base of operations; An flying aircraft carrier called Sphyrna. There, Rena confronts Dision who communicates with her via security camera due to his non-tangible nature and urges her to join Ouroboros, presenting her with her "wings" which turn out to be X-49 Night Raven, an experimental fighter jet created by General Resource for which Rena was used as a test pilot when she was a girl...
