Ace Combat 7 - My first time trying this game without commentary | Gameplay
Hard to believe but this is my first time flying Ace Combat , any version for that matter. I have been flying air combat simulator games for the PC for decades but never a console game. I didn't care for the very arcade look, feel and style of them. My thing was somewhere between arcade and realistic flight sims. I just briefly looked at the button mapping for the controller before taking off and basically gave it a go. I wasn't sure what to expect. But started catching on.
Recently I have been expanding my interest to more arcade like rather than the more realistic. Don't get me wrong, I love the realism that games like DCS and BMS give, but the commitment to completely learn all functions of each aircraft takes every bit of spare time I have and you can't even try anything else because you are still learning and practicing. Nothing wrong with that at all. I go back to them and learn a little and then go try something more game like that takes less time. So instead of choosing one or the other, I'm expanding my flight sim interest rather than just focusing on one criteria that I impose on myself. There are too many great flight sims out there, from the early days to the modern systems era. I'd like to try all of them. Up to a point of course, I really don't like pure arcade style, but Ace Combat 7 has shown to come my way as far as fun gameplay without being totally arcade. This first mission I used my Thrustmaster T-flight HOTAS One but was limited to some of the axis like to use the look left, right , up and down axis. So the next time I used an Xbox controller. It was better but I have to get used to it. I'm not real good with a controller yet but I will definitely be flying this more in the future.
